“Classic Churros with Cinnamon Sugar”

 

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup water
  • 2 1/2 tablespoons white sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • Oil for frying
  • 1/2 cup white sugar, or to taste
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Equipment:

  • Large saucepan
  • Wooden spoon
  • Deep skillet or frying pan
  • Slotted spoon
  • Piping bag with a large star tip

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Dough:
    • In a large saucepan over medium heat, combine water, 2 1/2 tablespoons sugar, salt, and 2 tablespoons vegetable oil. Bring to a boil and remove from heat.
    • Stir in flour until mixture forms a ball.
  2. Heat the Oil:
    • Heat oil for frying in a deep skillet over medium-high heat to 375°F (190°C).
  3. Pipe the Churros:
    • Spoon the dough into a piping bag fitted with a large star tip. Pipe strips of dough into the hot oil, cutting them with scissors to the desired length.
    • Fry until golden; drain on paper towels.
  4. Cinnamon Sugar:
    • Combine 1/2 cup sugar and cinnamon in a shallow dish. Roll drained churros in cinnamon sugar while still hot.
  5. Serve:
    • Enjoy your churros fresh and hot, optionally with a side of chocolate sauce for dipping.
