Seared Steak Bites with Mashed Potatoes

Ingredients:

For the Steak Bites:

  • 1 pound sirloin steak, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

For the Mashed Potatoes:

  • 2 pounds potatoes, peeled and cut into chunks
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Fresh chives, chopped (optional, for garnish)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Mashed Potatoes:
    • Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the potatoes and cook until tender, about 15-20 minutes.
    • Drain the potatoes and return them to the pot.
    • Add the milk and butter to the pot with the potatoes. Mash until smooth and creamy.
    • Season with salt and pepper to taste. Keep warm.
  2. Prepare the Steak Bites:
    • Pat the steak pieces dry with paper towels. Season with salt and pepper.
    • Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
    • Add the steak pieces in a single layer, making sure not to overcrowd the skillet. Sear for 2-3 minutes on each side until browned and cooked to your desired doneness.
    • Remove the steak bites from the skillet and set aside.
    • In the same skillet, add the butter and minced garlic. Sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.
    • Return the steak bites to the skillet and toss to coat in the garlic butter sauce.
  3. Serve:
    • Plate the mashed potatoes and top with chopped chives, if desired.
    • Arrange the steak bites next to the mashed potatoes.
    • Garnish the steak bites with fresh parsley.

Enjoy your seared steak bites with mashed potatoes!
