Ham and Cheese Sandwich Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 8 fresh sandwich rolls or bread of your choice (French rolls, ciabatta, or kaiser rolls work well)
  • 1 lb deli-sliced ham
  • 1/2 lb deli-sliced Swiss cheese or provolone cheese
  • 4 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • 4 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • Fresh lettuce leaves (optional)
  • Sliced tomatoes (optional)
  • Pickles (optional)
  • Butter (for toasting, optional)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Rolls: Slice the sandwich rolls in half horizontally. If desired, lightly butter the cut sides of the rolls and toast them in a skillet or under the broiler until golden brown.
  2. Make the Spread: In a small bowl, combine the Dijon mustard, mayonnaise, and honey. Mix well.
  3. Assemble the Sandwiches: Spread the mustard-mayonnaise mixture on the cut sides of each roll. Layer slices of ham and cheese on the bottom halves of the rolls. If using, add lettuce leaves, sliced tomatoes, and pickles on top of the ham and cheese.
  4. Top and Serve: Place the top halves of the rolls over the fillings. Press down lightly to secure the ingredients. Serve immediately, or wrap the sandwiches in parchment paper or foil for easy transport.
  5. Optional Warming: If you prefer warm sandwiches, you can wrap each sandwich in aluminum foil and bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for about 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the sandwiches are heated through.

Enjoy these delicious and satisfying ham and cheese sandwiches, perfect for a quick lunch or a picnic!
