Crispy French Fries Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 4 large russet potatoes
  • 1 quart vegetable oil
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Potatoes:
    • Peel the potatoes and cut them into thin, even strips.
    • Place the cut potatoes in a large bowl of cold water. Let them soak for at least 30 minutes to remove excess starch. For best results, soak them for up to 2 hours.
  2. Heat the Oil:
    • Pour the vegetable oil into a deep fryer or a large, heavy-bottomed pot. Heat the oil to 325°F (165°C).
  3. First Fry:
    • Drain the potatoes and pat them dry with a clean kitchen towel.
    • Fry the potatoes in batches for about 5-6 minutes. They should be tender but not browned. Remove them from the oil and let them drain on a paper towel-lined baking sheet.
  4. Second Fry:
    • Increase the oil temperature to 375°F (190°C).
    • Fry the potatoes again in batches for about 2-3 minutes until they are golden brown and crispy.
    • Remove them from the oil and place them on fresh paper towels to drain any excess oil.
  5. Seasoning:
    • While the fries are still hot, sprinkle them with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and paprika. Toss to evenly coat the fries.
  6. Serve:
    • Serve the crispy French fries immediately with your favorite dipping sauces.

Tips for Extra Crispy Fries:

  • Use russet potatoes for the best texture.
  • Soaking the potatoes removes excess starch, making them crispier.
  • Double frying ensures the perfect combination of a crispy exterior and a tender interior.

Enjoy your homemade crispy French fries!
