Cream-Filled Doughnuts with Strawberry Jam



  • For the Doughnuts:
    • 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
    • 2 teaspoons active dry yeast
    • 1/2 cup warm milk (110°F/45°C)
    • 1/2 cup warm water (110°F/45°C)
    • 1/4 cup sugar
    • 1/2 teaspoon salt
    • 2 large eggs
    • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
    • Vegetable oil for frying
  • For the Filling:
    • 1 1/2 cups heavy cream
    • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
    • 1/2 cup strawberry jam
  • For Dusting:
    • Powdered sugar


  1. Prepare the Dough:
    • In a small bowl, dissolve the yeast in the warm water and milk. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until foamy.
    • In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, and salt. Make a well in the center and add the eggs, melted butter, and yeast mixture.
    • Mix until the dough comes together, then knead on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
    • Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1-2 hours, or until doubled in size.
  2. Shape the Doughnuts:
    • Punch down the risen dough and roll it out on a floured surface to about 1/2-inch thickness.
    • Use a round cutter to cut out doughnut shapes. Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, cover, and let them rise for another 30-45 minutes until puffy.
  3. Fry the Doughnuts:
    • Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C).
    • Fry the doughnuts a few at a time, turning them over when they are golden brown on one side. This should take about 1-2 minutes per side.
    • Remove the doughnuts with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels. Let them cool completely.
  4. Prepare the Filling:
    • In a large mixing bowl, whip the heavy cream with powdered sugar and vanilla extract until stiff peaks form.
  5. Assemble the Doughnuts:
    • Once the doughnuts are cooled, cut them in half horizontally.
    • Spread a layer of strawberry jam on the bottom half of each doughnut.
    • Pipe or spoon the whipped cream over the jam.
    • Place the top half of the doughnut back on and dust with powdered sugar.
  6. Serve:
    • Enjoy these delightful cream-filled doughnuts with a cup of coffee or tea!
