Classic Meatloaf with Glaze

 

Ingredients:

For the Meatloaf:

  • 1 1/2 pounds ground beef
  • 1/2 pound ground pork
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

For the Glaze:

  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

Instructions:

  1. Preheat Oven:
    • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Prepare the Meatloaf:
    • In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, ground pork, chopped onion, minced garlic, breadcrumbs, milk, egg, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, dried thyme, dried oregano, salt, and black pepper.
    • Mix until all ingredients are well combined, being careful not to overmix.
  3. Shape the Meatloaf:
    • Transfer the meat mixture to a loaf pan or shape it into a loaf on a lined baking sheet.
    • Press the mixture down firmly and shape it evenly.
  4. Prepare the Glaze:
    • In a small bowl, combine the ketchup, brown sugar, Dijon mustard, and Worcestershire sauce.
    • Stir until smooth and well combined.
  5. Glaze the Meatloaf:
    • Spread the glaze evenly over the top of the meatloaf.
  6. Bake the Meatloaf:
    • Bake in the preheated oven for 1 hour, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (70°C).
    • Let the meatloaf rest for 10 minutes before slicing.
  7. Serve:
    • Slice the meatloaf and serve with your favorite side dishes.
