Cheesy Flatbread Recipe

 

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup warm water
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional for extra flavor)
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • 1 clove garlic, minced (optional for garlic butter)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Dough:
    • In a large bowl, combine the all-purpose flour and salt.
    • Gradually add the warm water and olive oil, mixing until a dough forms.
    • Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.
    • Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rest for 20 minutes.
  2. Roll Out the Dough:
    • Divide the dough into 4 equal portions.
    • Roll each portion into a ball and then flatten it into a thin, round flatbread.
  3. Assemble the Flatbread:
    • Preheat a non-stick skillet or griddle over medium heat.
    • Place one flatbread on the skillet and cook for about 2 minutes on each side, until lightly browned.
    • Sprinkle a generous amount of mozzarella cheese (and cheddar cheese, if using) over half of the flatbread.
    • Fold the flatbread in half to cover the cheese and press down gently.
  4. Cook the Cheesy Flatbread:
    • Cook the folded flatbread for an additional 2-3 minutes on each side, until the cheese is melted and the flatbread is golden brown and crispy.
    • Repeat the process with the remaining flatbreads.
  5. Garlic Butter (Optional):
    • In a small bowl, mix the melted butter with the minced garlic.
    • Brush the garlic butter over the hot, cooked flatbreads for extra flavor.
  6. Serve:
    • Cut the cheesy flatbreads into strips or wedges.
    • Serve hot and enjoy the gooey, cheesy goodness!

Tips:

  • You can add your favorite herbs or spices to the cheese filling for extra flavor.
  • Serve with a side of marinara sauce for dipping if desired.
