  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • Pinch of salt
  • 8 slices of thick bread (brioche or challah works best)
  • 2 tablespoons butter (for frying)
  • Maple syrup, powdered sugar, and fresh berries (for serving, optional)


  1. Prepare the Egg Mixture:
    • In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, whole milk, heavy cream, sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt until well combined.
  2. Soak the Bread:
    • Heat a large skillet or griddle over medium heat and add 1 tablespoon of butter, allowing it to melt and coat the surface.
    • Dip each slice of bread into the egg mixture, allowing it to soak for about 10-15 seconds on each side.
    • Let the excess mixture drip off and place the soaked bread slices onto the hot skillet.
  3. Cook the French Toast:
    • Cook the bread slices for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and crispy.
    • If necessary, add more butter to the skillet to cook the remaining slices.
  4. Serve:
    • Serve the French toast warm, topped with maple syrup, powdered sugar, and fresh berries if desired.
