3 kg oranges (makes approx. 2 kg  pulp and peel)

800 g sugar



Juice of a large lemon (or 5 tablespoons  lemon juice)

1/4 teaspoon citric acid

5 cloves (optional). , for an extra layer of flavor)

Clean towel for drying oranges

Mason jars

Prepare of oranges:

Start by  washing the oranges thoroughly to remove any impurities. Dry them with a clean towel.Shred the peel: Shred the orange peel with a grater, being careful to avoid the bitter white peel underneath.

Boil the skin: Boil the grated skin in water for 5-7 minutes and then drain. This step helps reduce bitterness.


Prepare the pulp: Peel the oranges and carefully remove all the white skin. Cut the pulp into small pieces and remove the seeds.Preparation of the jam:

Combine ingredients: In a large pot, combine the pulp and peel. Add  lemon juice, citric acid, and cloves (if using) to enhance flavor.

Add Sugar: Add sugar to orange mixture until well combined.

Cooking: Over medium heat, bring the mixture to a boil, stirring constantly. Continue cooking until the jam reaches the desired consistency.Test consistency: To test, place a small amount of jam on a cold plate; It should gel as it cools.



Allow the jam to cool slightly and then pour it into sterilized jars. Seal the jars while the jam is still hot to ensure an airtight seal.
