Slow-Cooked BBQ Beef Ribs

Ingredients:

  • 4 lbs beef back ribs
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 large onion, sliced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 cup BBQ sauce (your favorite kind)
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon mustard powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional, for heat)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 275°F (135°C).
  2. Season the beef ribs generously with salt and black pepper.
  3. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Sear the ribs on all sides until they are browned. This helps to lock in the flavor.
  4. Transfer the seared ribs to a large roasting pan or a slow cooker.
  5. In the same skillet, add the sliced onion and cook until softened. Add the minced garlic and cook for another minute.
  6. Pour in the beef broth, BBQ sauce, Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, and brown sugar. Stir to combine and bring the mixture to a simmer.
  7. Add the smoked paprika, mustard powder, and cayenne pepper (if using). Stir well.
  8. Pour the sauce over the ribs in the roasting pan or slow cooker.
  9. If using a roasting pan, cover it tightly with aluminum foil and place it in the preheated oven. Cook for 3-4 hours, or until the ribs are tender and the meat is falling off the bone.
  10. If using a slow cooker, cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 4-5 hours, until the ribs are tender.
  11. Once cooked, remove the ribs from the pan or slow cooker and let them rest for a few minutes before serving.

Serve the slow-cooked BBQ beef ribs with extra BBQ sauce on the side and your favorite sides, such as coleslaw, mashed potatoes, or cornbread.

Enjoy your delicious slow-cooked BBQ beef ribs!
