Perfect Baked Potatoes Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 4 large russet potatoes
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Sea salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • Fresh chives, chopped, for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Potatoes:
    • Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
    • Scrub the potatoes thoroughly under running water to remove any dirt. Pat them dry with a kitchen towel.
    • Poke each potato several times with a fork to create small holes that allow steam to escape during baking.
  2. Season the Potatoes:
    • Rub each potato with olive oil to coat evenly. Sprinkle generously with sea salt, making sure the salt sticks to the oil-coated skin.
  3. Bake the Potatoes:
    • Place the potatoes directly on the middle oven rack. You can place a baking sheet on the lower rack to catch any drips.
    • Bake for about 50-60 minutes, or until the potatoes are tender and the skins are crispy. To check for doneness, insert a fork or knife into the center of a potato; it should slide in easily.
  4. Serve:
    • Remove the potatoes from the oven and let them cool for a few minutes.
    • Using a knife, make a lengthwise slit down the center of each potato. Gently squeeze the ends to open up the potato.
    • Add a tablespoon of butter to each potato, letting it melt into the fluffy interior. Season with black pepper to taste.
    • Garnish with chopped fresh chives.
