Garlic Parmesan Pull-Apart Rolls

Ingredients:

For the Dough:
  • 4 cups (500g) all-purpose flour
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons (1 packet) active dry yeast
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup (240ml) warm milk (110°F/45°C)
  • 1/4 cup (60g) unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
For the Garlic Parmesan Topping:
  • 1/4 cup (60g) unsalted butter, melted
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup (50g) grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Dough:
    • In a large mixing bowl, combine the warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until it becomes frothy.
    • Add the melted butter and eggs to the yeast mixture and stir to combine.
    • In another bowl, mix the flour and salt. Gradually add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients, stirring until a dough forms.
    • Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 8-10 minutes, or until smooth and elastic. Alternatively, you can use a stand mixer with a dough hook attachment.
    • Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1-2 hours, or until doubled in size.
  2. Shape the Rolls:
    • Punch down the risen dough and divide it into 12 equal pieces. Shape each piece into a ball.
    • Grease a cast iron skillet or a baking dish, and arrange the dough balls in the skillet or dish, spacing them slightly apart.
    • Cover with a damp cloth and let the rolls rise again for about 30-45 minutes, or until puffy.
  3. Prepare the Topping:
    • In a small bowl, mix the melted butter and minced garlic.
    • In another bowl, combine the grated Parmesan cheese, chopped parsley (if using), dried oregano, dried basil, and salt.
  4. Bake the Rolls:
    • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
    • Brush the tops of the risen rolls with the garlic butter mixture, then sprinkle the Parmesan cheese mixture evenly over the rolls.
    • Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the rolls are golden brown and sound hollow when tapped.
    • Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving.
  5. Serve:
    • Serve the garlic Parmesan pull-apart rolls warm, straight from the skillet or dish.
    • These rolls are perfect as a side dish for any meal or enjoyed on their own.

Enjoy your homemade garlic Parmesan pull-apart rolls with their deliciously savory and cheesy topping!
