1 large loaf of French bread or 4 hoagie rolls, sliced in half lengthwise
2 cups shredded cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or a blend)
Fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish
Instructions:
Prepare the Meat Mixture:
In a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook the ground beef until browned. Drain excess fat.
Add the chopped onion, bell pepper, and garlic to the skillet. Cook for 3-4 minutes, until the vegetables are softened.
Make the Sloppy Joe Sauce:
Stir in the ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, mustard, salt, black pepper, paprika, and cayenne pepper (if using). Mix well.
Add the water and bring the mixture to a simmer. Reduce the heat to medium-low and cook for about 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce has thickened.
Prepare the Bread:
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
Place the sliced French bread or hoagie rolls on a baking sheet, cut side up.
Assemble the Sloppy Joe Bread:
Spoon the meat mixture evenly over the bread slices.
Sprinkle the shredded cheese generously over the top of the meat mixture.
Bake:
Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
Garnish and Serve:
Remove from the oven and sprinkle with chopped fresh parsley for garnish.
Serve the cheesy sloppy joe bread hot.
Enjoy your cheesy sloppy joe bread, a hearty and comforting meal perfect for any occasion!
