Cheesy Bacon Sausage Balls

These cheesy bacon sausage balls are packed with savory flavor, crispy bacon, and plenty of melted cheese. They’re an easy home-style favorite from deesviral that works perfectly for breakfast, brunch, parties, or a warm appetizer straight from the oven.

Ingredients

1 lb (450 g) ground breakfast sausage
8 oz (225 g) cream cheese, softened
1 1/2 cups (170 g) shredded cheddar cheese
1/2 cup (55 g) shredded mozzarella cheese
6 slices bacon, cooked and finely crumbled
1 cup (120 g) all-purpose flour
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
2 tablespoons finely chopped green onions, optional

Preparation Steps

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
  2. Add the ground sausage, softened cream cheese, cheddar, mozzarella, and crumbled bacon to a large mixing bowl.
  3. In a separate bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper.
  4. Gradually add the dry mixture to the sausage mixture. Mix thoroughly until all the ingredients are evenly distributed and a thick mixture forms.
  5. Scoop approximately 2 tablespoons of the mixture at a time and gently roll it between your hands to form round balls. Arrange them on the prepared baking sheet, leaving a little space between each one.
  6. Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until the sausage is fully cooked and the outside is golden brown. The center should reach at least 160°F (71°C).
  7. For an extra-cheesy finish like the one pictured, sprinkle a little additional cheddar and mozzarella over each sausage ball during the final 3–5 minutes of baking. Return them to the oven until the cheese is completely melted.
  8. Remove from the oven and allow the sausage balls to rest for about 5 minutes before serving. This helps them firm slightly while keeping the centers juicy.
