Air Fryer Chicken Inasal

Chicken Inasal is a popular Filipino dish known for its spicy, slightly sweet and delicious taste. Charcoal grilling is common, but using an air fryer is the easiest and most delicious option. How to Make Chicken Inasal in the Air Fryer:

Ingredients:

For the Marinade:

1/2 cup vinegar (vinegar, if available)
1/4 cup calamansi juice (or substitute lemon juice)
1/4 cup soy sauce dressing
6 garlic clove, finely chopped
1 teaspoon garlic, finely chopped
1 lemon, crushed and chopped)

For the chicken:

4 quarters of chicken legs (thigh and leg together)

For the topping:

1/4 cup oil , melt
2 tablespoons of annatto oil (heat the annatto seeds in the oil until the color runs clear, then filter)

Ingredients:

Instructions:
1. Prepare the marinade:

In a large bowl, vinegar, Combine calamansi-juice, soy sauce and chopped garlic. , ginger, lemon, brown sugar, salt, black pepper and annatto powder. Mix well until the sugar and salt dissolve.
Add the chicken pieces to the marinade and make sure they are well coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 3 hours, preferably overnight, to allow the flavors to infuse.

2. Preheat air fryer:

Preheat your air fryer to 175°C.

3. Air fried chicken:

Remove chicken from marinade (reserve the marinade for the sauce). Let the marinade overflow.
Place the chicken skin side down in an airtight container and cook for about 25 minutes.
While cooking, baste the chicken occasionally with the reserved marinade mixed with melted butter and annatto oil. This keeps the chicken moist and adds flavor.
Halfway through the cooking time, remove the chicken from the pan and let it rest.
Increase the temperature to 200°C (400°F) for the last 5 minutes to brown the skin.

4. Check doneness:

To make sure the chicken is cooked, check the internal temperature is 74°C with a meat thermometer.

5. Preparation:

Let the chicken rest for a few minutes before serving.
Serve steamed rice with atchara (grated papaya) or a simple fruit salad for a complete meal.

Seasoning Time: The longer you leave the chicken moving, the more flavorful it will be. Night Sailors is highly recommended.
Annatto Flour: Annatto adds unique color and nutrients. If it is not available you can skip it but it will give you the default Inasal view.
Basting: Regular basting not only adds flavor but also contributes to a shiny, pleasing appearance.
