Vanilla Whipped Cream Mousse

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups heavy cream, chilled
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract (optional for added flavor)
  • 1 packet (7 grams) gelatin (optional for added stability)
  • 2 tablespoons cold water (if using gelatin)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Gelatin (Optional):
    • If you are using gelatin for added stability, sprinkle the gelatin over the cold water in a small bowl. Let it sit for 5 minutes to bloom.
    • Once bloomed, microwave the gelatin for 10-15 seconds until melted. Let it cool slightly but ensure it stays liquid.
  2. Whip the Cream:
    • In a large mixing bowl, combine the chilled heavy cream, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and almond extract if using.
    • Using an electric mixer, beat the mixture on medium-high speed until soft peaks form.
  3. Add Gelatin (Optional):
    • If using gelatin, with the mixer on low speed, slowly drizzle the melted gelatin into the whipped cream. Once all the gelatin is added, increase the mixer speed to medium-high and continue to beat until stiff peaks form.
  4. Pipe or Spoon into Serving Glasses:
    • Transfer the whipped cream mousse into a piping bag fitted with a star tip. Pipe the mousse into individual serving glasses in a swirling motion to create a beautiful presentation. Alternatively, you can spoon the mousse into the glasses.
  5. Chill:
    • Refrigerate the mousse for at least 1 hour before serving to allow it to set and develop its flavors.
  6. Serve:
    • Serve the vanilla whipped cream mousse chilled. You can garnish with fresh berries, a sprig of mint, or a drizzle of chocolate sauce if desired.

Enjoy this light and fluffy vanilla whipped cream mousse as a delightful dessert on its own or as an accompaniment to other sweet treats!
