Grilled Cheese Sandwich with Jalapeños and Bacon

 

Ingredients:

  • 8 slices of bread (sourdough or your preferred type)
  • 8 slices of cheddar cheese
  • 4 slices of mozzarella cheese
  • 4 slices of cooked bacon, crumbled
  • 2 fresh jalapeños, thinly sliced
  • 4 tablespoons butter, softened
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (optional, for garnish)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Ingredients:
    • Cook the bacon until crispy, then crumble it into small pieces.
    • Thinly slice the fresh jalapeños.
  2. Assemble the Sandwiches:
    • Lay out 4 slices of bread on a flat surface.
    • Place 2 slices of cheddar cheese on each slice of bread.
    • Sprinkle the crumbled bacon and sliced jalapeños evenly over the cheddar cheese.
    • Top with a slice of mozzarella cheese on each sandwich.
    • Place another slice of bread on top to form the sandwiches.
  3. Butter the Bread:
    • Spread softened butter on the outside of each sandwich, making sure to cover the entire surface for a crispy, golden crust.
  4. Grill the Sandwiches:
    • Heat a large skillet or griddle over medium heat.
    • Place the sandwiches in the skillet and cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted. Press down gently with a spatula for even cooking.
  5. Serve:
    • Remove the sandwiches from the skillet and let them cool slightly.
    • Cut the sandwiches in half or into quarters.
    • Garnish with chopped fresh parsley if desired and sprinkle with a little salt and pepper.

Tips:

  • For a spicier sandwich, leave the seeds in the jalapeños or add a dash of hot sauce.
  • Serve with a side of tomato soup for a classic combination.
