Classic Butter Cake

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup (230g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups (300g) granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs, at room temperature
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 3/4 cups (350g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup (240ml) whole milk, at room temperature

Instructions:

  1. Preheat Oven:
    • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13-inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper.
  2. Cream Butter and Sugar:
    • In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter with an electric mixer on medium speed until creamy and smooth, about 2 minutes.
    • Gradually add the granulated sugar and continue beating until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.
  3. Add Eggs and Vanilla:
    • Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Mix in the vanilla extract.
  4. Combine Dry Ingredients:
    • In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Add Dry Ingredients and Milk:
    • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with the milk, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients. Mix just until combined after each addition.
  6. Bake the Cake:
    • Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly.
    • Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.
    • Remove the cake from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes. Then transfer the cake to a wire rack to cool completely.
  7. Serve:
    • Once the cake is completely cool, you can serve it as is or with a dusting of powdered sugar. It’s also delicious with a dollop of whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Enjoy your classic butter cake! This simple yet delicious cake is perfect for any occasion.
