Churros with Strawberries and Whipped Cream

 

Ingredients:

Churros:

  • 1 cup water
  • 2 1/2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • Oil for frying
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar (for coating)
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon (for coating)

Toppings:

  • 1 pint fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
  • 1 cup whipped cream
  • Strawberry syrup (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Churros:
    • In a medium saucepan, combine water, sugar, salt, and vegetable oil. Bring to a boil over medium heat.
    • Remove from heat and stir in the flour until the mixture forms a ball.
    • Heat oil for frying in a deep-fryer or deep skillet to 375°F (190°C).
    • Spoon the dough into a pastry bag fitted with a large star tip.
    • Pipe strips of dough into the hot oil. Fry until golden; drain on paper towels.
    • Combine 1/2 cup sugar and cinnamon in a shallow dish. Roll the churros in the sugar mixture while still warm.
  2. Assemble the Dessert:
    • Arrange the churros on a serving plate or in a serving dish.
    • Add a generous amount of sliced strawberries over the churros.
    • Drizzle with strawberry syrup, if using.
    • Add a dollop of whipped cream on the side or on top of the churros.
    • Serve immediately for the best taste and texture.
