Chocolate Nut Bars with Chocolate Drizzle

 

Ingredients:

  • For the bars:
    • 1 cup all-purpose flour
    • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
    • 1 teaspoon baking powder
    • 1/2 teaspoon salt
    • 1 cup granulated sugar
    • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
    • 2 large eggs
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
    • 1 cup chopped nuts (walnuts, pecans, or almonds)
  • For the topping:
    • 1/2 cup chopped nuts
    • 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
    • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Bars:
    • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
    • In a medium bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
    • In a large bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar and melted butter until well combined.
    • Add the eggs and vanilla extract to the sugar mixture and mix until smooth.
    • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
    • Fold in the chopped nuts.
    • Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and spread it evenly.
  2. Bake the Bars:
    • Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
    • Remove from the oven and let cool completely in the baking dish.
  3. Prepare the Topping:
    • Sprinkle the chopped nuts evenly over the cooled bars.
    • In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the semi-sweet chocolate chips and vegetable oil. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring after each interval, until the chocolate is melted and smooth.
    • Drizzle the melted chocolate over the bars.
  4. Serve:
    • Allow the chocolate drizzle to set before cutting the bars into squares.
