Spiced Garlic Shrimp Recipe

 

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 pounds large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika (optional, for extra flavor)
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust to taste)
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • 1 lemon, juiced
  • Fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Shrimp:
    • Rinse the shrimp under cold water and pat them dry with paper towels. Set aside.
  2. Mix the Spices:
    • In a small bowl, combine the paprika, smoked paprika (if using), ground cumin, cayenne pepper, dried oregano, salt, and black pepper.
  3. Cook the Shrimp:
    • In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat.
    • Add the minced garlic to the skillet and sauté for about 30 seconds, or until fragrant.
    • Add the shrimp to the skillet and sprinkle the spice mixture over them. Cook the shrimp for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until they are pink and opaque. Be careful not to overcook the shrimp, as they can become tough.
  4. Add Lemon Juice:
    • Once the shrimp are cooked, squeeze the lemon juice over them and give everything a quick stir to combine.
  5. Serve:
    • Transfer the spiced garlic shrimp to a serving platter.
    • Garnish with chopped fresh parsley.
