Steak in Creamy Cajun Shrimp Sauce (Surf and Turf)

Ingredients

For the Steak:

  • 2 ribeye steaks (or any steak of your choice), about 8 ounces each
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon fresh thyme leaves (optional)

For the Cajun Shrimp Sauce:

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon Cajun seasoning
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Chopped fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Steak:
    • Season the steaks generously with salt and pepper on both sides.
    • Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the steaks to the skillet.
    • Cook the steaks for 3-4 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or longer according to your preference. Transfer the steaks to a plate and tent with foil to keep warm.
  2. Make the Cajun Shrimp Sauce:
    • In the same skillet used for the steaks, add another tablespoon of olive oil.
    • Add the minced garlic and cook for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
    • Add the shrimp to the skillet and sprinkle with Cajun seasoning. Cook the shrimp for 2-3 minutes on each side until they turn pink and opaque. Remove the shrimp from the skillet and set aside.
    • In the same skillet, add the heavy cream and bring to a simmer. Cook for 2-3 minutes until slightly thickened.
    • Stir in the grated Parmesan cheese until melted and smooth. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  3. Assemble the Surf and Turf:
    • Return the cooked steaks to the skillet, along with any juices that have accumulated on the plate. Add the butter and minced garlic to the skillet. Baste the steaks with the creamy sauce.
    • Add the cooked shrimp to the skillet, gently stirring to combine with the sauce.
    • Cook for an additional minute or until everything is heated through.
  4. Serve:
    • Remove the skillet from the heat.
    • Garnish with chopped fresh parsley, if desired.
    • Serve the steak in creamy Cajun shrimp sauce immediately, accompanied by your favorite side dishes.

Enjoy this indulgent and flavorful Surf and Turf dish with tender steak and succulent shrimp in a creamy Cajun sauce!
